“Stars” is a poem by Sara Teasdale that describes the beauty of a starry night sky. The speaker is alone on a hill surrounded by pines, above them the heaven is full of stars. As they watch the stars they feel honored to witness such timelessness and majesty. A short but beautiful poem about nature’s grandeur. Read an analysis of this poem at PoemAnalysis.

Music is written, performed and produced by me, the arrangement for this song is very simple, I used only my voice and a piano.

The album art is a painting by the French artist Étienne Léopold Trouvelot (1827-1895) called “The November meteors“.

Stars

By Sara Teasdale

Alone in the night
On a dark hill
With pines around me
Spicy and still,

And a heaven full of stars
Over my head
White and topaz
And misty red;

Myriads with beating
Hearts of fire
The aeons
Cannot vex or tire;

Up the dome of heaven
Like a great hill
I watch them marching
Stately and still.

And I know that I
Am honored to be
Witness
Of so much majesty.
